Yoshimura SERT Motul Takes on Suzuka 8 Hours as EWC Points Leader
Yoshimura SERT Motul will be adopting a new race strategy for the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Road Race, Round 3 of the 2024 FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC), Yoshimura’s home round.
Pre-Test and Rider Lineup
A pre-test was held at Suzuka Circuit on June 19th and 20th in preparation for the 45th Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race. During this session, Greg Black, the team’s main rider, suffered a fractured leg, forcing him to withdraw from the third round. Teammates Dan Linfoot and Kokoro Atsumi are now registered with Yoshimura SERT Motul in preparation for the race, while Etienne Masson will compete in the Experimental Class as a Team Suzuki CN Challenge rider.
EWC Performance and Strategy
Yoshimura SERT Motul won the opening round of the EWC, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and entered the second round, the Spa 8 Hours, nine points behind their rivals. They took second place at Spa, reducing the gap to one point. As the points leader in the Endurance World Championship, they approach Suzuka 8 Hours with high morale.
Rider Insights
Greg Black
“Looking back at the Spa 8 Hours, finishing second was disappointing because we always aim to win. However, our strategy to prioritize fuel economy and make fewer pit stops worked well. The fall at Suzuka was unfortunate, but the operation went smoothly, and I’ll focus on my treatment to be ready for the Bol d’Or.”
Dan Linfoot
“The race at Spa went well despite the challenging conditions. The Suzuka test was crucial for refining our setup, and I’m confident in our performance. Training hard in the UK, I’m preparing for the heat at Suzuka and looking forward to racing again.”
Atsumi Kokoro
“I’m thrilled to race in the Suzuka 8 Hours with Yoshimura SERT Motul. The pre-test was beneficial, and I’m confident in our setup. Despite the pressure, I’m looking forward to competing and helping the team win the title.”
Etienne Masson
“Spa was challenging, but we secured second place. Competing in the Experimental Class at Suzuka is an honor, and the test was productive. I’m excited to contribute to this new challenge and achieve the best results.”
